Anyone that wants to play a fun rogue like game with fantasy elements have at last got one. It has RPG elements that flesh out your character while exploring, it has a number of classes such as Fighter, Theif, Wizard, Paladin etc.. and you can choose skin tone and gender. All of which, make for a diffrent experience each time you play. The soundtrack is nice and adds to the game while the graphics are very pixel artish and remind me of games like Gauntlet and Chaos back on the old Sinclair Spectrum.Highly recommend!. A fantasatic Roguelike! Super fun progression system, both within each run, and in the way of permanent unlockables. But don't just take my word for it... You can try the first Cardinal Quest for free at NewGrounds (link), and the phone version of Cardinal Quest 2 for free on both Android (link) and iOS! (link) If you enjoy those anywhere near as much as I did, the Steam version (which has more content) will be a great purchase.. The classes are well developed and relatively well balanced. The gameplay is simple, yet addicting. The in-game dialogue\/lore tooltips give just enough lore to give the player a feeling of immersion without making the game be story-intensive. However, any praise that I have for this game ends here.I paid $20 (deluxe edition) for essentailly a flash game with a few extra features tacked on top. I enjoy playing the game, but it's not worth the money for what you get. One would think that, if the gameplay itself is lacking for the price, then it would at the very bare minimum entail half-decent customer support. This game hasn't been updated in ages and there's been absolutely no interaction from the developer since 2015.I have come across a variety of bugs in the 115 hours I have invested into this game, and emailed the developer. Not only has there been absolutely no response, but absolutely no effort is being taken to moderate the amount of RAM-hacking used to attain top positions on the leaderboard. There are people who've, upon my looking up their steam profiles to investigate, have barely invested 10 hours in the game and have gotten:- all the achievements- scores that are not obtainable through normal gameplay- top positions on the leaderboardIf the developer of the game makes you pay money (three times the amount the game is worth imho) for a few extra features - the leaderboard being one of them - and then doesn't give half a fresh \u2665\u2665\u2665\u2665 as to moderating the leaderboards to make the game fun and enjoyable for everyone, there is absolutely no point in buying the game. A lot of people play the free version on kongregate. The free version's leaderboards are, at the very least, balanced - praise I wish I could be giving to the steam version. In summary, the game is quite fun but it's a shame that it's riddled with bugs and absolutely no effort is being made to moderate cheating\/hacking into the leaderboards. The developer has abandoned the project, and it's not worth half the money it's listed for.. I really dislike the mobile/kongregate version's IAP pattern so I'm happy to pay for the game on steam and not have to pay anything extra. The game has good production values and is quite fun but also quite simple but then again not quite as simple as you first think.. This key was obtained from the developer for the purposes of review. Summary: A game that just needs more. While its base combat and mechanics work, it wears out its welcome very quickly, as the variety of enemies, environments, and tactics don't last for more then a couple of hours. But in the end, Cardinal Quest 2 just doesn't do enough to stand out from its competition. While void of true complexity, there's balance of elements here and a reasonable challenge. Like some small touches like the auto-selling of equipment that's obviously worse in every way to your current set. Heroes, while at first seem unbalanced, do have a reasonable balance in the end. The alchemist does feel like a unique character that stands out from the others. Glad to see the f2p elements from the mobile game gone.-: Game lacks variety for the long haul. After 2-3 hours, you'll see what the game has offered in pretty much every way. It misses the KO punch to really draw attention to it. Lack of enemy variety, equipment, and environments as a whole. Certain control problems with missing key strokes show up because of the mobile port. Can be annoying at times when you have to use the mouse to click on something Compared to other games in the genre, it doesn't have the content to warrant the 15 dollar price tag. Games like The Enchanted Cave 2 and Tallowmere bring more content in the end. Certain extra elements hinder gameplay despite being a new ability due to unintended side effects that it can have. For example, auto-charge sounds great at first, until you realize you attack allies and the shopkeeper who will hammer you down, even if you don't want to. Very uneven. Rough in several places, while smooth in others, making an uneasy experience. At times, doesn't do a good job of explaining extra stats or elements that a weapon/armor can have, and what the exact effect is. Lack of Cardinals. But in all seriousness, saying there's story campaign in this game is misleading, cause there's really no story.. Recommend, there's alot of replay value. Coffe break roguelike deluxe! Great game!
